This year, the Dokova and Dokov for the Future Foundation is joining the partners of the Ulpia Serdica Festival and will provide financial support for its second edition.
On 2 and 3 October 2026, the festival will once again bring Sofia’s ancient history to life, taking visitors nearly 2,000 years back in time to an era when Serdica was an important part of the Roman Empire.
The historical reenactments will feature members of the Serdica Aeterna Association, the First Italic Legion (Legio I Italica P.F.), as well as leading historical reenactment groups from Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain. Through a variety of demonstrations and reenactments, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the daily life, culture and military traditions of Antiquity.
The festival programme will take place at two iconic locations in the capital:
2 October, the green space behind the Sofia Municipality building in the Vrabnitsa district
3 October, the Western Gate of Serdica
Following the success of its first edition in 2025, the festival returns with an even richer programme and international participation. The initiative’s partners include Sofia Municipality’s Sredets District, Sofia Municipality’s Vrabnitsa District and the Regional History Museum of Sofia.
Through its support, the Dokova and Dokov for the Future Foundation contributes to the preservation and promotion of cultural and historical heritage, while helping to make it an accessible, engaging and shared experience for people of all ages.
